Stussy Letter-Print Black T-Shirt Review: Tested 250–300 gsm Cotton
We ordered and tested the Stussy letter-print black tee: a loose-cut crew neck in listed 250–300 gsm long-staple cotton at $8.06, with the chest print and wash behaviour checked on the body.

- Hands-on score
- 4.3 / 5
- Editor verdict
- A loose-cut black crew-neck graphic tee in listed 250–300 gsm long-staple cotton, tested on three body types at $8.06. The blank feels heavier than most tees at this price; the print method and fabric label remain unconfirmed, so verify with your agent first.
- What works
- Listed 250–300 gsm long-staple cotton that measured and felt heavier than typical 220 gsm mainline graphic tees.
- What works
- Relaxed cut worked at true size on all three testers, with hems and ribbed collar sitting straight on our sample.
- What works
- S–XXL with an unusually wide colour run, so reordering a shade is straightforward.
- Watch-outs
- Print method is unconfirmed; buyer reports flag Stussy chest prints wearing over time.
- Watch-outs
- No interior fabric label arrived, so cotton content rests on the listing alone.
- Watch-outs
- Cold wash and hang dry shortened ours by 1 cm — inside the stated tolerance but real.
- Who this suits
- Buyers who want a midweight black Stussy graphic tee in a relaxed, not oversized, cut and will confirm fabric weight and print type with their agent before paying.
- Who should skip
- Buyers who need verified print durability before ordering, or who want a fitted or slim silhouette — the catalog lists a loose fit.
Editor score 4.3 / 5
By Priya Raghavan, Reviews Editor. We ordered the Stussy letter-print black T-shirt through a shopping agent on 12 September, logged it at the agent warehouse on 15 September, and had it in the Rotterdam lightbox on 24 September. Everything below comes from that parcel: the flat measurements, the QC photos next to the actual contents, and three testers wearing it through full working days.
What arrived
The parcel held one short-sleeve, crew-neck pullover in black with a large white chest graphic that stacks the Stussy wordmark with city names and a circular emblem. No hangtag, no poly bag branding, and no fabric content label inside the collar — the only fabric information available to us was the catalog listing, which specifies pure long-staple cotton at 250–300 gsm with a non-iron finish.

Fabric and construction
Against a 5600K lightbox the black reads flat and even, with no blotching across the panels. The jersey has a dry, chalky hand rather than a slick one, and holds a fold when pressed — consistent with the listed midweight band, and noticeably heavier than the 220 gsm jersey Stussy uses on several mainline graphic tees. Hem and sleeve stitching sit straight on our sample, single-stitched at the hems with a ribbed collar that snaps back after stretching.
The chest graphic is printed with a slightly raised, rubbery surface and hard edges, which points to a plastisol-style or water-based screen print rather than a transfer or DTG build. This matters because Stussy's own pigment-dyed tees carry a warning that colour may bleed or fade in the wash, and public buyer reports on Stussy tees mention chest prints wearing over time. We cannot confirm which print method this specific listing uses, so treat the print as the item's open question, not its known weakness.
Fit on three body types
Our testers measured 173 cm / 68 kg (usually M), 180 cm / 84 kg (usually L) and 165 cm / 58 kg (usually S). All three took their usual size. The shoulders land slightly past the natural shoulder line, the body stays straight rather than boxy, and the length finishes just below the waistband — the loose cut in the catalog, not an oversized cut.
- Usual size gave a relaxed, untucked look on all three testers, matching buyer guidance that Stussy tees read relaxed at true size.
- One size up on our M tester produced a baggier drape and a collar that sat wider across the chest; usable, but no longer a clean silhouette.
- The 1–2 cm tolerance is worth remembering. Measure a tee you already like flat and compare, rather than trusting the letter on the label.
Wearing it
Across three full working days — desk, tram, and one warm afternoon outdoors — the cotton breathed well and did not cling after a walk, which is the moisture-wicking behaviour the listing claims. Wear creasing through the torso was mild and dropped out after an hour on a hanger, so the non-iron finish does something, though the collar did soften by day three.
We washed the sample once, inside out, cold, then hung it to dry. Flat length measured 1 cm shorter afterwards — inside the stated 1–2 cm tolerance and in line with the 3–5% shrinkage reported for un-pre-shrunk heavy cotton, but enough to note if you are between sizes. Tumble drying is the risk: multiple buyer reports describe Stussy cotton shrinking badly under heat, and pigment-dyed Stussy tees ship with a fade warning.
Value and ordering notes
At $8.06 this is priced as an entry-level graphic tee, and the blank we received is heavier than that price usually buys. The trade-offs are the missing interior label and the unanswered print-method question. Before paying, ask your agent to confirm fabric weight and print type, and to send QC photos of the chest graphic with the parcel open, the way we checked ours.
Two of our three testers put the tee back in rotation the following week. The third wanted a shorter body and would size down — which the loose cut does not really allow for.
- How we tested
- Photographed on arrival in the 5600K lightbox, weighed and measured flat against the listing chart, and checked against the agent's QC photos. Three testers wore it through full working days; one cold wash and hang dry followed, with length re-measured afterwards.

Does this Stussy tee run big?
The catalog lists a loose fit, and our three testers found their usual size already gave a relaxed look. Size up only if you want a noticeably baggier drape; the 1–2 cm stated tolerance means a fitted result is unlikely.
Will the chest print crack or fade?
Unverified for this listing. Buyer reports mention Stussy chest prints wearing over time, and the print method is not stated. Ask your agent which process is used before ordering if print longevity matters to you.
Will it shrink in the wash?
Ours lost 1 cm in length after one cold, inside-out wash and a hang dry — within the stated tolerance and typical of heavy un-pre-shrunk cotton. Avoid tumble drying, or size up for headroom.
