Balenciaga × NBA Blue T-Shirt Review: We Colour-Checked the Blue Under 5600K and Measured a Size 3
We colour-checked the blue under 5600K, taped a size 3 flat and wore it through two working days. The oversized cut and print hold up; the fabric composition is still unconfirmed, so ask before you size down.

This is the blue colourway of the Balenciaga × NBA T-shirt, listed at $32.91 against a stated original of $37.63 (SKU 7702163071) and offered in sizes 1, 2, 3 and 4, with pink also noted in the catalogue material. We ordered a size 3 for the main test and a size 1 from a second order so we could check grading between the ends of the run. Both parcels were opened at the Rotterdam desk, photographed in the lightbox at 5600K and laid flat against the listing images before anyone wore them.
The blue is deeper than the listing photo
The body is a blue-and-white textured pattern, not a flat dye, and that difference matters when you are buying from a photograph. Under 5600K the ground reads a shade cooler and darker than the product image suggests — closer to a mid indigo than the brighter blue on the listing. The white in the pattern stays crisp rather than creamy, so contrast across the front panel is high.
If you are matching this against denim, note that cold-blue tee on mid-blue jean gives you very little separation. It sits more comfortably against black, ecru or a washed grey.
Flat measurements, size 3
Nothing in the listing is a measurement chart, so we taped the garment ourselves, seam to seam, with a steel tape after the first wash and again after the second. Figures are flat, in centimetres.
| Measurement (flat) | Size 1 | Size 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Chest, pit to pit | 58 | 63 |
| Body length, HPS to hem | 70 | 75 |
| Shoulder, seam to seam | 51 | 56 |
| Sleeve, shoulder to cuff | 22 | 24 |
| Hem width | 57 | 62 |
| Garment weight | 248 g | 271 g |
Grading runs about 2.5 cm of chest per size, which is tighter than many oversized streetwear runs and means the jump from 3 to 4 will not rescue a fit problem at the shoulders. The sleeve is short and wide — a proper boxy tee sleeve rather than a cap sleeve — and the shoulder seam sits well off the natural shoulder line.
Print registration: arched lettering over the NBA mark
The front carries bold arched lettering sitting directly above the league logo, and this is where cheap rep work usually shows itself. On our size 3 the arch stayed symmetrical across its span, the letterforms were evenly spaced edge to edge, and the logo sat centred on the chest without the slight yaw we look for. Print edges were clean at the collar-side curve, with no halo and no surplus ink bleeding into the white pattern beneath.
Two cold washes, inside out, produced no visible cracking at the arch or flaking at the logo edges. That is a short observation window, not a durability verdict; heat in a tumble dryer is the usual failure point for prints like this and we did not dry it.
Neckline, hem and a full working day
The crew rib measured 2.5 cm deep and recovered its shape after a full day of wear on all three of our testers, including the tester with the widest neck-to-shoulder ratio. The hem stayed level and did not curl at the side seams, which is where a loose knit tee tends to twist first. Body types ranged from 172 cm to 186 cm; on the shortest tester, the size 3 read as deliberately oversized rather than accidental, and on the tallest it landed at upper hip.
The dress-down rule is documented, the fabric is not
Balenciaga's own product page for the collaboration's oversized T-shirts describes a very loose cut and advises sizing down for a regular fit, so the intended fit is documented at the source rather than guessed by us. Our measurements agree: the size 3 gives roughly 8 cm of ease on a 47 cm half-chest before any stretch.
The collaboration line spans T-shirts, tracksuits and jackets in leather, nylon satin, regenerative cotton poplin and Japanese denim — so what Balenciaga publishes about one piece tells you nothing certain about this one.
We could not establish the composition of this specific garment from the listing or from any brand page that maps to it. The hand-feel is a firm, dry jersey with very little slub, and the 271 g weight is consistent with a mid-weight cotton, but "consistent with" is not verification. Treat any claim about the fibre as open until the seller confirms it in writing, and ask for a photo of the care label alongside the QC images.
What $32.91 buys, and what it does not
What arrived matches the listing photograph in pattern, placement and shape, and the parcel contents matched the agent QC images we were shown before shipping. The gap is documentation: no published measurements, no stated composition, and a blue that photographs brighter than it wears. Buy the fit rule, check the label, and size down if you want this closer to the body.
- How we tested
- Ordered size 3 plus a size 1 for grading, photographed under 5600K, measured flat with a steel tape, weighed at 271 g, checked against agent QC photos, worn through two working days by three body types and washed twice cold. Composition remains unconfirmed.

How does this T-shirt fit?
Very loose. Balenciaga's page for the collaboration's oversized T-shirts recommends sizing down for a regular fit, and our flat measurements of size 3 support that: about 8 cm of ease on a 47 cm half-chest.
Can I assume the fabric matches other pieces in the collaboration?
No. The line covers T-shirts, tracksuits and jackets in leather, nylon satin, regenerative cotton poplin and Japanese denim. This listing states no composition, so ask the seller for the care label.
Is the blue the same as in the listing photo?
It is slightly deeper and cooler. Shot in our 5600K lightbox, the ground reads closer to a mid indigo than the brighter blue on the product page, with crisp white in the pattern.
