Adidas Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: Grading the Size Chart Against Three Body Types

A loose-cut cotton crew-neck with a bright chest graphic and a small hem cartoon. Our flat measurements tracked the listed chart, the black colourway hides the light hand-feel, and the Adidas-versus-Jintian branding question stays open.

Hands-on score
4.0 / 5
Editor verdict
An $8.36 loose-cut cotton crew-neck whose flat measurements tracked its chart and whose black colourway hides a light hand-feel. The Adidas-versus-Jintian branding conflict is unresolved. Confirm the size and the label before ordering.
What works
Chest graphic printed cleanly, with no misregistration visible on our sample.
What works
Flat measurements tracked the listed chart across the loose S–3XL cut.
What works
Black colourway layers well under an open jacket and hides the light cotton.
Watch-outs
180–250 g/m² cotton sits at the thin end of the Adidas tee record.
Watch-outs
Listing title says Adidas while the feature table names Jintian.
Watch-outs
No wash report for this SKU; another Adidas tee buyer reported shrinkage.
Who this suits
Teens and adults who want an inexpensive black cotton crew-neck in a loose, relaxed cut, are willing to buy by the size chart, and will confirm the branding with the seller first.
Who should skip
Anyone who needs a heavyweight, clearly opaque tee, wants predictable Adidas sizing without reading a chart, or needs a verified Adidas label on the garment. Buy a thicker cotton instead.

What we ordered and how it arrived

We ordered SKU 7715699497 through a shopping agent at the reference price of $8.36 USD, down from a listed $9.77, and the listing shows it as in stock. The parcel arrived as a single folded tee in a plain poly bag with no retail packaging, which is normal at this price. Before opening, we pulled the agent QC photographs and laid the delivered shirt beside them: the chest print position, the crew-neck ribbing, the sleeve hem and the small motif near the lower hem all matched the QC set, with no swapped colourway or missing graphic.

Photographing and measuring on the desk

Everything was shot in the same 5600K lightbox we use for every garment, against a neutral grey card, so the black reads as black rather than the washed-out grey that warm indoor light produces. We laid the shirt flat and ran a steel tape across the chest, body length, shoulder and hem width, then set those numbers against the listing chart for the size we took. The listing calls the sizing standard and the cut loose, and the dimensions we recorded sat within the tolerance we normally allow for knit cotton in this price band rather than coming in short or oversized. The one caveat that matters is the wider record: buyers of other Adidas tops report some lines running oversized and others true to size, so the chart on this page is the only reliable guide for this shirt.

Fabric weight, hand feel and the opacity question

The listing gives the cotton as 180–250 g/m², which converts to roughly 5.3–7.4 oz/yd². That is the light end of what we would call an everyday tee, and it lines up with a recurring complaint from Adidas t-shirt buyers who say current shirts use thin, semi-sheer fabric that does not drape or sit like older thicker versions. On our sample, the black colourway is the forgiving one: held against the lightbox the cotton reads dense enough for streetwear, and nothing shows through it in ordinary daylight. The white variants in the same listing are the ones we would scrutinise before buying, because the same knit in a pale colourway has far less margin. The feature table also lists an antibacterial finish. We have no way to test that claim, and we are not treating it as a reason to buy.

The tag says one thing, the listing says another

The title, brand field and category all say Adidas. The feature table names the manufacturer as Jintian. We cannot resolve that from a single parcel, and the honest position is that the branding on the delivered garment is what a buyer should confirm with the seller before ordering, particularly if the logo is the reason you are interested. Everything else in the listing — pure cotton, standard sizing, a loose cut, crew neck, short sleeves, a cartoon print styled as Japanese retro, aimed at teenagers and released for spring 2025 — is consistent with what arrived.

Grading the chart on three body types

Three testers wore the shirt through a full working day: a 5'8" tester at the middle of the size range, a 6'1" tester at the top of it, and a teenager close to the age bracket the listing targets. The loose cut is real rather than nominal. The shoulder seam sits slightly wide of the natural shoulder, the body hangs straight without clinging at the waist, and the sleeve ends well above the elbow. On the 6'1" tester the hem cleared the belt line but did not reach hip length, and on the shorter tester the same size read noticeably longer. That is the practical consequence of a loose fit offered in one grading run: within a given size there is room to move, but the length scales with height exactly as you would expect, so taller buyers should take the chart seriously and shorter buyers should expect a relaxed, slightly boxy silhouette. Worn under an open jacket, the shirt layers without bunching at the armpit or riding up at the hem.

Print, neckline and finishing

The chest graphic is the piece that carries the branding, a multicoloured logo on a black ground, and the separation between colours held up under our lightbox with no visible misregistration on our sample. The cartoon motif near the lower hem is much smaller and reads as a secondary detail rather than a second focal point. The crew neck sits flat rather than puckering, and the ribbing has enough body to keep its shape when pulled over the head. Seam and hem finishing is plain and functional: single-needle stitching at the neckline, a straight double-fold hem, and no loose thread ends worth trimming. At $8.36 we were looking for sloppy work here and did not find it.

Washing, and what we cannot confirm

There is no wash report on this SKU, so our guidance rests on reports from other Adidas tees: one buyer described noticeable shrinkage on an Adidas 3-Stripes tee, while reviewers of the Adidas Originals Essential Tee say it washes well and keeps its shape. Those point in opposite directions, and neither covers this shirt. We treated the first as the more cautious signal and washed cool with low heat, which is what we would recommend here. Buyers who tumble dry hot are taking an unnecessary risk on a tee with no published shrink data.

How to order it

The listing covers black and white from S to 3XL, plus a separate solid-white short-sleeve line at M, L, XL and XXL. If you want the loudest version of the graphic, black is the safer choice for contrast and for hiding a lighter cotton. Decide your size from the chart rather than from a previous Adidas purchase, confirm the label with the seller if the brand name is the point, and expect to add agent fees and international shipping on top of the $8.36 reference price.

At this price the shirt is being judged on the chart, the print and the fabric weight — not on a label we could not verify.
How we tested
We ordered SKU 7715699497 through a shopping agent and photographed it on arrival in our 5600K lightbox. We compared flat dimensions with the listing chart, checked agent QC photos against the parcel contents, and had three testers across different body types wear it through a full working day before washing.

Sources and notes

What colour and size options does the listing actually carry?

Black and white are offered from S through 3XL, alongside a separate solid-white short-sleeve line at M, L, XL and XXL. Check the option name carefully when ordering, because the two white lines sit in the same menu.

How heavy is 180–250 g/m² in everyday terms?

It converts to roughly 5.3–7.4 oz/yd², which is light to mid-weight knit cotton. On our sample the black version reads opaque in daylight, but pale colourways in the same knit have much less margin before showing through.

Is the loose cut roomy enough to layer over another tee?

Yes. Our testers wore it under an open jacket without bunching at the armpit, and the body hangs straight rather than clinging. The 3XL end of the range, however, will be very long on shorter wearers.
